Something for EVERYONE!

Face painters, balloon animals, a puppet show, bouncy house, and a fire truck all in one fun-fabulous carnival! Face painting will be available all day so be thinking of what masterpiece you would like painted on your cheek. If your masterpiece can't be painted, maybe it can be created with balloons. So maybe artistic masterpieces are not your cup of tea, but the theater is more your style ~ I'm sure you will enjoy our rendition of "The Adventures of Flatman and Bobbin" playing at noon from the puppet theater. Not impressed by puppet adventures, you can always pretend to have your own superhero adventures aboard a real life fire truck. If you're not crazy about fire trucks, art, or theater, you can't go wrong with a trip to the bouncy house. Hours of jumping pleasure await you. So as you can see ~ we've got something for everyone here at SummerFEST!

Artist Feature - Shane

Our second artist feature is on Shane, who creates unique paintings. Check out what he had to share...

Describe your art/craft:
I would describe our art
as
bright and colorful,
with intentions to
make you smile.

What makes you passionate about your
art/craft? Watching the reaction of people
as they look at the
canvas, you start to see them turn their
heads and
look at all the different characters. Sometimes
you
will hear a 'this reminds me of so and so' I love the
smiles people make.

How long have you been creating this art/craft? I have
had this style since middle school... It's always
been just for fun, 'till a
couple of years ago I
submitted a design to the
'Diggin Dino's' promotion...
and m
y wife Kelly and I got chosen to do complete the statue
and it turned out awesome. ...it was very exciting when we
got the extremely positive feedback.

Where do you find your inspiration? I am inspired by my kids.
Especially my 3 1/2 year old son Dylan. He is always
pointing
out different things with our paintings. It's fun to know he
enjoys them. I feel my paintings stimulate his
mind because
they are so colorful, and the characters fit together like a
puzzle. Our 9 month old daughter Kiera even
stares at the
paintings. Soon enough she will pointing things out to us.

Thanks Shane! Don't miss his work at SummerFest on August 9th!

Artist Feature - Amy

Our "Artists Features" are meant to give you a sneak peak of the kind of art/craft/original product you'll be able to find at SummerFest on August 9th! Check out our fun interview with Amy, who creates adorable original jewelry and bags...

Describe your art/craft: I create original handbags and purses and dabble in a little jewelry creation because I LOVE a little bling :)

How did you get started doing your art/craft? My mom sewed a lot while I was growing up. The very first bag I made was in my junior high home ec class. I made a bright red tote bag. I was given an A- because my stitches were not quite perfectly straight. I remember that my mom was adamant that I deserved an A+ :) If only Mrs. Neidt could see me now! :)

What makes your passionate about your art/craft? I love the whole process of envisioning, designing, and creating. But my favorite part is seeing the finished product and the sense of accomplishment that accompanies that.

How long have you been creating this art/craft? ooohh..a long time

What's your favorite thing about being an artist? To be honest, I've only recently started thinking of myself as an artist. I grew up thinking that artists' painted and drew. Now I know that art encompasses a vast spectrum of definitions and mediums. If something speaks to you on a deep level, or if you just find it beautiful or intriguing, chances are it's someone's art. I love creating!!

You can also check out more of Amy's work at: www.cayennepeppy.etsy.com and of course don't miss her booth at SummerFest on August 9th!

Get Clued In!

Do you want the first clue? Well, do you? OK. Here it is.

“Are you ready to race? You'll find me there waiting for you.”

Whet your appetite for something adventurous? Peak your curiosity? We are going to have tons of new SummerFEST games this year, including a scavenger hunt that runs both the grounds of the carnival and of the art fair. Of course there is a prize at the end - there are always prizes at the end! Kids can also line up for coffee sack races, water balloon tosses and egg races or, while they wait for the start of the next race, dig for dinosaur eggs, find a “lucky ducky” or jump in the bouncy house. Oh, and be sure not to miss messy art fun on our “ginormous” easel and car races on our ever-so-popular grand prix race track. There is so much to do, and even more than we've told you! And to think, all this fun is FREE...and not only that...YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FIRST CLUE! Come play.
